Tulane Global’s international initiatives are made possible through generous scholarships, grants, and funded research. Students, scholars, and faculty members looking to pursue international endeavors have the following resources available to facilitate a robust academic or research exchange.
Faculty Funding Opportunities for Global Research & Professional Development
- Committee on Research
The Committee on Research, in conjunction with the Provost’s Office, provides up to $1,000 for travel for faculty professional development activities at international venues. Preference will be given to applicants who have been accepted to present a talk at an international conference. Those presenting posters, serving as a session chair, or participating as a discussant at an international conference, biennale or arts festival may also apply.
- The Center for Public Service
The Center for Public Service offers support to Tulane faculty interested in community-engaged scholarship, which could include international research. Limited funding is available for conference costs related to faculty professional development activities involving community-engaged scholarship through the Community Engaged Conference Fund. $10,000 is available in Community-Engaged Research (CEnR) funds and $10,000 in Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) funds each year.
- CELT Faculty Development Funding
These grants provide opportunities for faculty to attend pedagogy-specific workshops or conferences, which could include international sites, and/or to receive additional training that will improve or develop new teaching skills or methods.
- Stone Center for Latin American Studies
The Stone Center offers grants to faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and librarians conducting research on Latin America for professional travel funding to support participation and attendances at regional, national, and international conferences, as well as participation on board or committee boards of recognized professional associations.
Graduate Student Funding Opportunities for Research & Study Abroad
- Graduate Fellowship and Scholarships
A wide variety of fellowships are available to graduate students at all levels and in all disciplines. This list of organizations has multiple opportunities for students, including individual grant and fellowship opportunities.
- Stone Center for Latin American Studies
The Stone Center offers grants for graduate students enrolled in the Latin American Studies graduate programs to offset the costs of presenting research papers at academic conferences. These grants are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the academic year and are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis until funds are depleted.
- International Fellowships
Tulane offers a range of academic study and travel fellowships to undergraduate students interested in opportunities across the globe, including in Beijing, Madrid, Zambia, Malawi, and Western Europe. Eligibility criteria and fellowship details vary.
Undergraduate Funding Opportunities for Research, Service, & Study Abroad
- TU Undergraduate Student Funding
Over $500,000 is available in annual funding for Newcomb-Tulane College students pursuing academic research, internships, conference presentations, student ventures, community engagement projects, and more.
- Study Abroad Grants
Travel grants and need-based scholarships for undergraduate students who are approved for international study through the Office of Study Abroad.
- Stone Center Funding for Undergraduate Students
The Stone Center offers a wide variety of University fellowships to further pursue research, participate in conferences and conduct national and/or international internships. Fellowships are available through various campus sources for independent research and internships.
- Newcomb Institute Awards and Funds
Tulane offers funding opportunities through the Newcomb College Institute and Newcomb-Tulane College for current Tulane students to expand their education through experiential and hands-on learning. Newcomb-Tulane College awards $100,000 annually to support undergraduate research, conference travel, internships, and special projects. Grants are reviewed monthly while classes are in session.
- International Fellowships
