Wade Wootan

Director of Global Operations

Biography

G. Wade Wootan has more than 30 years of experience advising senior leadership and providing legal advice in the higher education and health sectors. He has had progressive responsibilities, facilitating the creation of institutional frameworks to oversee and support high quality research, capacity building and learning worldwide.

Wade oversees Tulane University’s international subsidiary and its African offices. He also chairs Tulane’s two international assurance committees that provide operational, compliance and risk advice to travelers and related activities abroad. In his prior role at Tulane, he served as Associate General Counsel for Research and Life Sciences, where he counseled the University’s 18,500 plus faculty, staff and students on a broad range of business and legal matters. This includes negotiating and closing complex transactional matters and counseling on common legal and business issues.

Wade co-led Tulane’s initial full accreditation by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Programs (AAHRPP), the first private organization in Louisiana to earn this distinction. He also served on Tulane’s Biomedical and Social Institutional Review Boards, which are responsible for overseeing clinical trials research and social-behavioral research, respectively.

Wade oversaw development and implementation of the full range of international policies and training used by Tulane to support international banking, cash management, payroll. At Tulane, he works with faculty and staff from across the University to establish educational programs and research projects around the world. He is primarily responsible for establishing and operationalizing legal structures and plans in support of services, learning and research abroad, especially in unstable, developing countries.

Wade is a Louisiana-licensed attorney, who earned a Juris Doctorate from Tulane Law School, having served on Moot Court, and participated as a team member for the Phillip C. Jessup International Law competition. He also graduated from Duke University with honors, where he received a Bachelor of Arts. Wade also is an avid, life-long runner who captained the cross country and track teams at Duke and Isidore Newman High School.
