Global Support Services

Global Support Services

Tulane University pursues its mission to be a globally engaged institution in part by encouraging its students, faculty and staff to pursue academic and research opportunities around the world. Global Support Services supports Tulanians in the pursuit of these international activities may include research, teaching and service. Tulane affiliates undertake hundreds of international trips throughout the year, lasting anywhere from one week to an entire academic year.

This travel page is a resource for Tulane faculty, staff and students who travel abroad on behalf of the university. Within its pages, you can find best practices for planning programs or conducting service, information about established Tulane resources abroad and protocol for emergency situations. We firmly believe that travel should be undertaken only after serious preparation and that each destination requires its own strategy for responding to situations as they arise, whether they are minor quandaries or serious emergencies.

Prior to conducting Tulane-affiliated travel abroad, it is important that all travelers:

  • Review current travel risks, alerts and warnings to prepare for any potential situations that may arise;
  • Register your travel in iSOS so that iSOS can quickly assist you in the case of an emergency;
  • Plan and prepare for your international experience by using the resources within these pages.
  • Remember that all travel undertaken on behalf of Tulane should adhere to the guidelines set forth by the university's Travel Management Office.
