OISS TU Advantage Orientation

International student success at Tulane University begins with OISS Orientation!  It is designed to help you:

  • Meet OISS staff and learn about university resources;
  • Comply with government regulations pertaining to your stay in the U.S;
  • Become comfortable with the local community and U.S. culture; and
  • Meet people and make friends from around the world.

Studies show the benefits of participating in orientation programs.  Faculty members and advisors see a marked difference in the preparedness and success of students who have participated in orientation.

TU Advantage students must participate in New Student Orientation the week before classes start in August.  In addition to learning more valuable information, students will have the opportunity to meet the remainder of the incoming first year students.

2020 Schedule

July 10

Virtual OISS Orientation

Time 7:00 -8:30 PM CST

During this virtual orientation, you will get to meet the staff of the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS). They will share important immigration information.  They will also explain further opportunities for you to be prepared to succeed academically and socially, and learn about U.S. culture.   The orientation does not end with the initial OISS orientation, but instead orientation themes will be discussed throughout the TU Advantage program.

Register here.

Early July

OISS will launch the Online Orientation: A Toolkit for New International Students

We recommend that you work on this toolkit before you start your TU Advantage program. The deadline for completion is August 19.
