Fall In-Person and Virtual OISS Welcome Events

International student success at Tulane University begins with OISS Orientation!  It is designed to help you:

  • Meet OISS staff and learn about university resources;
  • Comply with government regulations pertaining to your stay in the U.S;
  • Become comfortable with the local community and U.S. culture; and
  • Meet people and make friends from around the world.

Studies show the benefits of participating in orientation programs.  Faculty members and advisors see a marked difference in the preparedness and success of students who have participated in orientation.

All new undergraduate students (including TU Advantage and transfer) must participate in New Student Orientation the week before classes start in August.  In addition to learning more valuable information, students will have the opportunity to meet the remainder of the incoming first year students.

Orientation requirements for all new international students (including those who studied remotely 2020-2021):

  • (Mandatory) Complete OISS orientation in Canvas so you can complete the iGlobal check-in in the days after you arrive in the United States in F-1 or J-1 status.
  • Attend the appropriate OISS In-Person Orientation
  • Attend the OISS Welcome event on August 17th and other advertised welcome events
