Celinda Chang is a senior from Los Angeles, CA double majoring in Asian Studies and Health and Wellness with minors in SLAMM and Japanese. She studied abroad from 2018-19 in Tokyo, Japan through Middlebury Schools Abroad in her junior year as a Boren Scholar and a Freeman-ASIA Scholar. Celinda was selected as a delegate for the 71st Japan America Student Conference (JASC) in 2019 and elected as an American Executive Committee Member for the 72nd JASC. Celinda studies Japanese language and can also speak Mandarin Chinese conversationally, hoping to improve in Mandarin as well as learn Cantonese. For her future career goals, Celinda aims to promote cultural exchange and understanding through study abroad, language learning, and exchange programs, and she wishes to pursue work with the federal government regarding US-Japan relations. On campus, she is the Captain and Treasurer of the Kaiwa Club and Treasurer of the Tulane Water Polo Club, and she is an active member of the Tulane Vietnamese Association (TUVA) as well as the Asian American Student Union (AASU). Her hobbies and interests include dance, synchronized swimming, and music, and she has an extreme love for penguins.
