Info Session: Boren Awards / Study Abroad Funding Thursday, December 7, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m., Cudd Hall, room 203
Alison Patz, associate director of the Boren Awards, will speak about her program's study abroad scholarships for U.S. students. Boren Awards provide funding opportunities to study less commonly taught languages in world regions that are critical to U.S. interests, and that are underrepresented in study abroad programs, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. In exchange for funding, Boren Scholars commit to working in the federal government in areas that support national security for at least one year after graduation.
Boren Scholarships promote long term linguistic and cultural immersion, so study abroad proposals for two or more semesters are strongly encouraged. Preference will be given to undergraduate applicants proposing at least six months overseas. The deadline to apply is Friday, January 5.
