You may be wondering if you can study abroad as a science or engineering major.
The answer is YES!
The School of Science and Engineering strongly encourages you to explore study abroad options. Experiences gained while participating in study abroad programs are very important to you as an individual and serve to enhance your abilities as a member of the international scientific and engineering community.
How to study abroad as a Science and Engineering Student
Option 1: Identify a study abroad option that offers courses in your major field, to earn major credit. You will work with a faculty advisor in your SSE department to find equivalencies and determine how a study abroad course can fit into your major. You can search the OSA program websites for course listings or work with a study abroad advsior to find the types of classes your are interested in. Our advanced program search option allows you to find a program based on major. If you don't see an option listed, don't hesitate to contact a study abroad advisor as we are always adding new options.
Option 2: Work with your academic and major advisor to plan for a semester where you don't need to take science courses. This way, you can plan your study abroad semester to fulfill core curriculum requirements, credits for your second major or minor and/or general elective credits.
(Please note this list isn't comprehensive! There are even more options. Seek out an advisor in the OSA.)
