Newcomb-Tulane (JYA) Madrid Program

Language of Instruction: All courses are taught in Spanish; all coursework must be completed in Spanish
Program Dates: Academic Year (Early September to late June) or Spring Semester (early January to late June).
Eligibility Requirements: 3.0 GPA; Completion of two semesters of college-level Spanish at Tulane, including SPAN 304 or higher, with a grade of B or better during the year before departure. Spring semester students should also complete one additional course (324 or 313 or above) in fall prior to study abroad.
Program Coursework: Students begin with a pre-program Spanish Intensive course; during the semester, students choose 1-2 courses at REUNIDAS and 2-3 courses at the UCM. All coursework in completed in Spanish.

Application instructions: Students complete the Tulane application only; no secondary application required.

Spain: Granada
IES Abroad Advanced Language Program at the Universidad de Granada
Program Sponsor: IES Abroad
Host University: Universidad de Granada
Language of Instruction: All courses are taught in Spanish; all coursework must be completed in Spanish
Program Dates: Fall semester only (late August to late December). Fall students wishing to continue their study in Spain for the full year should apply to study on the spring semester Newcomb-Tulane JYA Madrid program.
Eligibility Requirements: 3.0 GPA; Completion of two semesters of college-level Spanish at Tulane, including SPAN 304 or higher, with a grade of B or better during the year before departure for the Academic Year. Spring semester students should also complete one additional course (SPAN 304 or above) in fall prior to study abroad.
Academic Program: Students take one Spanish Grammar course (based on placement exam); in addition students select two classes at IES and two classes at the University of Granada from available course offerings. All classes selected must be in Spanish. IES Internship Placements require prior approval from appropriate Tulane academic department. See the IES Abroad web site for details on exact course offerings. All coursework is completed in Spanish.
Tulane students are not permitted to take IES courses offered in English.

Application instructions: Students complete the Tulane application, plus the IES Abroad Online Application; students must submit the IES nomination forms, language assessment form, and a current transcript to the OSA with the Tulane application. All steps must be completed by the Tulane application deadline.
