Join OISS staff and members of the Tulane Police Department for an info session about bike and road safety, tips on using the Tulane Shuttles, and public transportation here in New Orleans.  As international students and scholars, some of the laws and customs regarding road safety might be different than where you are from/used to, and this is a great opportunity to learn and ask questions about being safe while getting around, and also enjoy some pizza!

Kick off the semester and carnival season with this traditional carnival treat as you meet students, staff and faculty from across the school.  Dowtown Global Cafe Seriesl a monthly gathering of internationally-minded Tulanians.

OPT is a benefit available to all F-1 students. In order to be eligible for OPT you must have held valid non-immigrant status for at least one academic year. OPT allows you to work in your field of study for up to 12 months (29 months for certain STEM fields).

Staff from the OISS and Workforce Management will host an informational overview of F-1 and J-1 employment. Come and learn about finding an on-campus job, immigration regulations, internship opportunities both as a student and post-grad, and even how to apply for a social security card and other necessary documentation to start your employment successfully.

 

Tour buses feature a trained and licensed tour guide who will narrate the trip as our bus travels through:
•      The historic homes of Uptown.
•      The French Quarter, including the oldest cemetery in New Orleans where you will learn about our different burial practices and Voodoo.
•      Mid-City’s beautiful City Park.
•      We will go to Morning Call to try traditional coffee and beignets, for free!
 

Join OISS staff and members of the Academic Learning and Tutoring Center for an info session about classroom participation and culture. This is a great opportunity to learn how to get the most out of your classes here at Tulane and also learn about US classroom culture and resources to support you as a student. We will also enjoy some pizza during this informal presentation.
